While speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF), YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki called for more censorship. Although she didn't outright use the word "censorship," she did, however, state that when it comes to sensitive topics, Youtube's main page will recommend what she calls "more authoritative sources. In other words, mainstream media.
"We came out with a set of data which we thought was very useful, which was how much content is put out that is violative that we are not catching with our enforcement." Wojcicki said.
What this means is shortly, certain YouTubers will see their channels shadowbanned and suppressed even more so than they already are. YouTube will essentially become just another cable news network. Or just a hub for cable news networks. The only thing your content creators will even be able to discuss is sports and music, or maybe you can upload funny dogs and cats videos. But pretty soon, even business discussions will be deemed as a threat to national security and, at the very least, "harmful misinformation."
A significant part of the problem with big tech censorship is the very people that are in charge of determining what disinformation is are the same people that are putting out misinformation. Ironically, the Biden administration has been keen on removing misinformation from social media when he and his administration put out disinformation daily, to the likes of which I have never seen before. For example, when the Biden administration rolled out the covid vaccine, he claimed that the people that took the vaccine would not get covid. That turned out to be absolutely false. But no one is fact-checking the Biden administration; no one is censoring or de-platforming President Biden. The level of hypocrisy is astounding. But again, who's going to fact-check the fact-checkers?
